Chuck's note is correct as far as it goes ... but we
then miss Michigan and OSU in 2009/2010.
Gee, that's too bad, isn't it?
I was at NU-Illinois and I have to agree with Chuck:
Illinois is a mess. Their defense is sluggish and
doesn't tackle or cover especially well. Their punter
and kicker might be worse than ours (though their
return teams were worlds better).
And Juice -- I was waiting all year to yell "Squeeze
the Juice" on a sack and I got one (the fumble at our
15) right in front of me!!) -- looks like he might be
a decent QB but with Zook's genius on offense and his
odd play calls, we'll never know.
One example of Zook dunceness: That Mendenhall looked
good on that 86-yard TD run -- and he had 4 -- four!
-- carries the rest of the game. Hmm, maybe he should
have had the ball more? And Zook's play calls on 3rd
and 4th and 1 1/2 from the NU 14 or so in the fourth
quarter ... hey, Ron, no, don't run that 6-5 QB,
noooo, don't!!! Dunce.
I have high hopes for 2007 and I am proud and
delighted with the way the 'Cats finished the season.
Now, let's have soccer win a national crown, wrestling
win the Big 10 and basketball make the NCAAs!!! (I can
dream...)

We will not be driven by fear into an age of unreason, if we dig deep in our history and our doctrine, and remember that we are not descended from fearful men, not from men who feared to write, to speak, to associate, and to defend causes that were for the moment unpopular." -- Edward R.
