With travel plans and early games, needed to get this
out today ...

One more Big Ten game, one more week to go before it's
conference championship time. The big game, of course,
is that "Nobody Wins" game between the Evil Empire and
Evil SC. But there's plenty of other pigskin to feast
on this holiday weekend from the unofficial SEC-ACC
Challenge to a couple ACC games to determine the one
division winner and some Big XII rivalries. Oh yeah,
that LSU-Arkansas game is pretty big, too. 

And that's not even counting the big games out west
here that will likely not make it to many TVs, such as
the Civil War in Oregon, ASU-Arizona in Tuscon and
Boise State's toughest test at Nevada. Mmmm, pigskin!

MY PICKS

* PURDUE 49, Hawaii 41
C: The Islands have been rough on many a team, and
Purdue can't let this game come down to a field goal,
but that may be a blessing in disguise as Tiller has
to go for the 6 and wins a shootout.

* BOSTON COLLEGE 27, Miami 24
C: Tough call here ... BC needs a win and help to play
for the ACC title and rivalry games are always tough.
Miami's down and needs a win to be bowl eligible. In
the end, Miami just wants this mess of a season to
end.

* TEXAS 52, Texas A&M 10
C: It might be close in Aggieland, but it's ugly in
Austin. The Horns are stewing from the KSU loss and
want to end on a high note. Bye Bye, Coach Fran.

* NEBRASKA 23, Colorado 22
C: Tempted to go upset here as the Huskers may be
looking ahead to the Big XII title game and the Buffs
need this to redeem a disappointing season. But the
Huskers survive at home.

* ARKANSAS 21, LSU 7
C: Rough rivalry game here with lots of defense and
hard hitting, but McFadden continues his campaign for
Heisman Runner Up and breaks it open late.

* FLORIDA 31, Florida State 13
C: Bobby's boys barely beat Western Michigan last week
- though they could try and salvage the season here.
Still, Urban knows you gotta beat the rivals and does
again here handily. Expect lots of BCS campaigning.

* GEORGIA 24, Georgia Tech 21
C: Tough call here as Tech's having a heck of a year -
but the Dawgs have been playing better lately, are at
home and the SEC still trumps the ACC.

* CLEMSON 34, South Carolina 20
C: Sooner or later, Spurrier's gonna figure out how to
beat Bobby's boy, but for this year the Tigers win
again thanks to home field.

* MARYLAND 13, Wake Forest 10
C: Tough call here - Terps at home!

* SOUTHERN CAL 41, Notre Dame 14
C: The Irish haven't played a decent team for months
and won't be ready for SC's speed at wideout. The
Trojans smell a title shot and roll. Winning big, like
Michigan did in South Bend, would seal the deal.
