'92 was mentioned briefly in Brad Wilson's post
Every home game they replay the catch on the catvision in the north
endzone as part of the NU montage.
I wasn't there either(class of '93), but my favorite had to be 2003
where we went down to the game without tickets. We(Maureen and I)
were talking about where we would find the scalpers when a woman
dressed in Ill-whine-i apparel handed us 2 tickets gratis.
Watching Jason and Noah run(437 yards rushing) was a pleasure. We
kept yelling "Note to coaches run the ball". Illinois knew we
couldn't pass worth a crap, but could not stop us from running.

I can't believe no one has mentioned the 1992 game in Champaign, with
the
miraculous fourth-quarter comeback to win 27-26 on a diving touchdown
reception by Pat Wright (? -- it wasn't Gissendaner, was it?) on a
throw
from Lenny Williams. I think it was Gary Barnett's first significant
win.
My memories are a little fuzzy, as it was my freshman year, I
(regrettably)
didn't travel to the game and so I only listened to it on the radio.
Someone refresh my recollection. How much did we trail? How did we
come
back?

I'd have to go with 1995. Granted, Matt Hartl got away with a hold on
the
"39 toss" play that kept the Big Ten unbeated streak alive, but I was
in the
endzone seats with many screaming NU fans and I enjoyed every second
of it.
And the 62-21 pasting in 2001? was special too.
Victory & Honor,
Jim

Okay, I'll start a new thread: favorite NU-Illinois games from the
past.
I'll pick two: 1970 -- we had started the season 0-3, but really
seemed
to be better than that. Our first conference game was against the
Illini. We were hoping to get that elusive win. We got it, all right
-- by an amazing score of 48-0. We then started to roll. We finished
6-1 in the conference, tied with Michigan for second place, one game
behind Ohio State.
My other selection is 1996. Adrian Autry took over for an injured
Darnell Autry and scored the winning TD with about a minute to play.
Final score: NU, 27-24.
Okay, gang, your turn!
