The Cats beat a very poor team tonight. DePaul has some amazing
leapers, who can't hit from the outside and who play a matador defense.
They are one of the most undisciplined teams I have seen in a long time.

Still, NU plays 2 freshmen and 2 sophomores in their first seven with
three of them starting. I was impressed with the offense. They were
crisp and efficient, except for when they let the clock run down to
under 7 seconds. They couldn't buy a shot early in the game, going over
6 minutes before they even scored. They were lucky to be only down 20
to 16 at the half. But in the second half they started running their
offense better, getting a few back door chippies. Coble looks like the
real deal. He just needs to add a few pounds in order to survive in the
Big 10. Ryan also looked good. Along with Moore and Williams, the Cats
have a good young nucleus of players that are only going to get better.
They still lack interior bulk for rebounding and defense. The Big 10
season will be tough, but this team is much farther along than recent
year's teams. It will be interesting to see what they can do against a
better team. But overall, I went away from tonight's game very
impressed. This team, even as young as it is, will only get better.
