you are right about NY. The mindset that is that anything west of the
Hudson is Indian country. Not a PC way to express it, but you get the
idea. Ray Knight was of the view that except for the Yankees and the
Mets, NY sport fans were clueless. Until the internet and satellite tV
came along it wasa virtually impossible to find out anything about
non-NY teams without supcribing to a out of town newspaer. Living in
Connecticut, I used to get the Sunday Detroit Free Press to keep up on
the Big Ten and the Tigers.
