[NU Sports] Cofield (fwd)

It's a well known issue with any college team in a town with a Pro Football
team.

Dallas [SMU/TCU] Chicago [NU] New York [anyone?] St. Louis [Rams/Cardinals] even
Phoenix, altho some question if the present Cardinals are a pro team....but I
digress.

Even Maryland plays second fiddle to the Ravens in Baltimore, even though the
Terps have a longer tradition, they played 3rd fiddle behind the Colts and the
Redskins before the Ravens.

Don't know if it's the food in the press box, the availability of coaches and
players, the longer season, or just the level of play, but few towns with NFL
teams have standout college teams now.

TV is enamored of the pro game, and the papers are stuck with limited resources
and too much to cover. The colleges lose out.

If the Evil Empire [N**** D***] was actually playing on the south side, they'd
be ignored too, but there are too many ND alums in Chicago to ignore [5.5
million at last count]

Another problem that we [NU] has is that our largest NU Alumni Club used to be
[and probably still is] Washington, DC, followed by LA and New York. I'm sure
someone knows that answer and Its after hours here.

FWIW - Wisconsin's largest alumni group is out of .... Chicago!
