The Tribune is a regional newspaper, similar to the NYTimes albeit on
a smaller scale. Throughout the upper midwest you can often find the
Trib for sale next to the local paper. Given that standard I don't
expect to the see the Bears as the lead story on the FRONT PAGE.

We have been Trib subscribers since we graduated in 1993 and the Bears
as the lead story forced us to cancel the subscription.

When I was in Nashville the Titans were discussed, along with the Vols
which is expected, but they also talked about Vandy, Kentucky, and the
rest of the SEC. There was also more than passing mentions about the
Big Ten.

In sports radio in Chicago college football is just not discussed,
except for the few syndicated shows. Chicago sports coverage is on
the level of what I expect to see in Tuscaloosa where one team is
discussed ad nauseam.

There is interest as Chicago has a ton of Big Ten alumni, especially
in the core demographics.

If you want national coverage, read USA Today. Local coverage sells
'local' newspapers.
