If you want national coverage, read USA Today.  Local coverage sells
'local' newspapers.

During the right time of the year (about 6 weeks as far as the Cubs
are concerned most years), other sports dominate the media in Chicago.

However, I've had to listen to Saint Louis and Nashville sports talk radio 
a few times during trips to/from Tennessee (it's 850 miles of boring radio
on that drive) it's pretty one-dimensional there, too.  

Here in Nebraska the Huskers dominate the local scene, of course, though 
for now it appears Bill Callahan's head is off the chopping block, thanks 
to the last minute victory against TAMU.

I haven't been to NYC for a few years, but the same thing used to be true
there, though during football season the Jets and the Giants do share 
air time somewhat, depending on the standings and who the head coaches are.
