[NU Sports] The Deadly McManis

Living in Peoria, I had heard about McManis as a local talent so it was
great to see him sign with the Cats.

I suspect his injuries early in his high school career kept him off the
radar screen. He went to the same school as the Sutter LBs and Rick
Telander

Here's a nice article on him prior to his college decision:

Who recruited this kid? It couldn't have been that lame ineffective DB
coach could it? <g>

How was he able to recruit someone like this to a school that supposedly
wasn't attractive to the sort of athletes that are needed for that
position
(or however the argument that appeared on this list a while ago was
supposed
to go)?

Now we have another of perhaps equal skills waiting in the wings?

I'm telling you folks, Fitz understands that defenses win titles and we
are
going to see the end of the era of weak "bend don't break" defensive
philosophy at NU.

If we are going to have an attacking defense that can put pressure on the
QB
(what a concept), we have to have strong DB's that can cover 1 on 1.

OSU won't have Troy next year. Henne is gone from UoM the year after
that.
The two major road blocks for NU to win the BT are going to be breaking in
young QB's over the next two years and we're building an aggressive
defense
that can stuff the run and put pressure on the QB.

I like it!

I would suggest that at least one of our commits, Mabin, has similar
characteristics to McManis...

And so does the kid from Evanston.

Fast and Aggressive makes a good CB
