[NU Sports] Win one for Rutgers

Last night after we got the kids to bed I turned on the Louisville-Rutgers
game and it was 25-14 Louisville (I think) early in the third quarter. I
thought, "Huh, Rutgers is still in it; this could be a good game," whereupon
my wife came in and asked if I was really into the game or whether we could
continue watching a movie we had rented a couple nights before but didn't
finish before getting too tired. So, I aquiesced to finishing the movie,
and when it was over, the first image I saw on the TV was Ray Rice being
interviewed as the player of the game and fans going crazy in the
background. I immediately said, "Shoot! I really wish we had watched the
rest of this game!" Oh, well. Fortunately, I see that ESPN Classic is
re-airing the game at 6 p.m. (central) tonight.
You've got to love Greg Schiano, who (like Steve Kragthorpe at Tulsa) is a
young coach who has done a great job working with lower-tier talent and has
taken a lesser-known program to national prominence.

Anybody (especially we Northeasterners, who don't get a lot of good College
FB games or the intensity and fervor found in other parts of the country)
who
couldn't feel happy for Rutgers and its long-suffering fans last night is
heartless (or a front-running fan of traditional powerhouses such as tOSU,
USC,
ND, Texas, etc.). We NU alums could certainly emphasize with the euphoria
of the Scarlet clad fanatics at last night's game. I just loved it--even
though I have never been a big fan of New Jersey, my neighboring state,
save for
its No. 1 citizen, The Boss (Mr. Springsteen).
