[NU Sports] still basking in the glow ...

I am totally looking forward to this week's matchup with OSU.
How often you get the #1 team in the Nation and Heisman trophy winner coming to your place in November? Does anyone have a record of how we have performed against #1 teams? I would be shocked to find out we have won any of those.
Regardless, I hope the coaches and the team go out and have a fun week of practice. I sense that Fitz is wound kind of tight and I think this is the wrong week for that. If we were to win this week, I think that the story would be this:
- When Troy Smith is under pressure (especially from his right), he will regulary spin without looking to his left. If we have any chance in this game, it would be to hit him on these moves and cause a couple of fumbles. I am not sure we will get pressure from the first guy much less have the second guy in position to make the play. But that is the key in my mind.
- We also have a chance if Tressel decides to run too much. If OSU throws 30+ times, the we will be blown out. Every time a team runs against us, I consider it a gift. If OSU throws that much, it would mean to me that they are being aggressive and that it trouble for us.
Any thoughts on who gets to play Troy Smith on the scout team this week? Brewer?
Again Congrats to the coaching staff for keeping this program headed in the right direction. McGee seems to have got much more comfortable in calling the correct plays. CJ is the future. The offensive line is really executing well. D-line is getting better.
Any one else starting to get the feeling that this is 1994 all over again? Young team starting to have success. Ultra positive coach. OSU can beat us by 40 ( we got crushed by Iowa and PSU at the end of 1994) but it won't matter.

of a win over Iowa. Never enough of those! Made my
weekend. All is well...
...until I look at this week's foe. Yikes.
I have some of Jeff's optimism and I well remember
OSU's last visit to Evanston -- who could ever forget?
I am getting my DVD of the game out to watch this week
for inspiration.
However, I agree with Dennis that such optimism must
be temperate. OSU has more speed than any team NU has
seen this year and will be as physical as any (perhaps
equal to Wisconsin). There cannot be any missed field
goals, missed red zone chances and missed coverages
against the Buckeyes.
But it must be said that while winning is always the
goal, if NU gives a credible effort Saturday even in a
loss and then whacks the Illini (in the 100th game of
the series) there will be much good feeling and
confidence heading into 2007, when, in my opinion, the
schedule is much more conducive to success.
The two things I liked most about the Iowa win were:
1) getting the running game going and 2) an
aggressive, attacking defense that kept firing away
all game, nothing like the play-to-not-lose disaster
vs. MSU.
Alright, a third thing: hearing Bumblebees booing
Captain Kirk and his crew in Kinnick! (Does anyone
agree that Ferentz's genius reputation seems to
wearing off? Iowa is 2-4 in the league with Bucky and
Goldie to go; many predicted a 11-1 season.)
