I subscribe to a somewhat obscure publication, the Biblical Archaeology Review.
The contents of the magazine isn't the issue, but just about every letters to
the editor section has a letter from someone who's personal beliefs were
challenged by some article in the magazine, and therefore this person feels a
need to cancel his [or her] subscription forthwith.
They usually provide some detailed insight into why they don't want the magazine
anymore, I've often wondered if they actually stop reading it, or what...
Anyway, many of these folks seem to come from the bible belt, Texas, Oklahoma,
etc. and given the tone of yesterday's resignation from this board, I wonder if
its something about the this area that rejects foreign ideas.
Of course, I personally choose not to read the NY Times or watch TV News because
it upsets me, but I try not to let it color my coverage of NU Athletics. [ok I
can't resist an occasional jab]
On the subject of our present coaching staff, I'll support what they're doing
until I see them do something that doesn't make sense. I won't base my decisions
on the staff on rumors, grumblings from non-starters [and their parents] or
blogs that disappear a few days after posting.
And BTW - Mr. Nolan calls me to the carpet from time to time - he runs this
thing for free - he's alowed to make, and interpret his rules.
