Am I the only one who thinks this story is getting blown out of proportion?
Yes hazing is wrong, but so is speeding, swearing, and not washing your hands in the bathroom.
Nobody was hurt. No charges were filed. No protest was made. It looked pretty tame and under control.
Do they have to take everything fun out of college?
Underage drinking -- can't have that even though I attending "wet" munchies as a freshman paid for by the dorm activity fees less than 20 years ago(1989). I feel old!
Light hazing -- Evil!
My rules for college students activities are for them to be:
* SAFE(no drinking and drive, no unprotected sex)
* LEGAL(misdemeanor max)
* FRIENDLY(don't cause more than light mental or physical anguish)
If students do not experience this in a safe environment they will do it in a riskier one. Also college is the time to experiment and mature before encountering the reality of 40+ years of 9-5.
Before someone decries my liberal attitude, I am generally pretty conservative and considered by most to be a stick-in-the-mud.
