I think Alan's point is profound and is going to be part of a major cultural
shift viz a viz your entire life being catalogued electronically. How many
future employers are going to be looking at myspace for a sense of your
history.....
I have spent the last 7 years of my career in the middle of the online world
and I can tell you that I am going to manage my kids'endeavors here very
closely - not because I need or want to monitor their every move, but more
because I am aware of the implications of going online without thinking past
today...I cannot do the same for their friends, however.

Not expressing any opinion here about whether it's hazing or a "rite of
passage."
Simply observing, after taking a look today at badjocks.com, that it's a
fascinating turn in technology and popular culture to see how many such
similarly styled rituals have been posted on the internet.
Wonder how many of these photos were posted into the public domain without
apparent reservation -- or whether the fact that such photos, once posted,
were into the public domain was given much thought before posting.

Uhhh, I talked about the story, and the fine line between hazing and a
"rite of
passage" on the front page of Purple Reign yesterday.
I'm reserving judgement as to which it is because the pictures are
inconclusive
to me as one who has been involved in policing "rites of passage"
celebrations.

NU's team got "caught" because they put the pictures up on the internet.
