[NU Sports] NU women's soccer hazing pictures

Ben's question is a good one

I don't read about a similar number of scandals at Stanford, Rice, Vandy.

I can't recall any other stories about Duke (except the current story).

NU seems to have more missteps than would be expected (for similar institutions).

Either we are guilty of more missteps, or more things get reported on at NU.

Who is to blame for the rather messy athletic department at NU ?

Headlines SHOULD be about academic success, recruiting success, national championships and conference titles in the Spring sports, not point shaving, player deaths at illegal practices and unseemly hazing pictures on the web.

Who's lap should all of this be laid in ? Bienen ? Murphy ? the coaches ?

Okay, I can't help it; I have to ask...

How come every email about the hazing pictures so far has been either a)
lambasting or defending journalists who *have* covered the story, or b)
lambasting journalists who have *not* yet covered the story? Mariotti and
Telander may be jerks, but that's completely beside the point here.

No one is talking about the story itself. Why not?

And another angle of the story worth discussing: Is this similar to the
Rashidi Wheeler incident in that every school -- and every sport -- does
something like this (illegal organized summer workouts, hazing), but somehow
it's Northwestern thatt gets caught?

Also last night on "pardon the interruption" Alum Michael Wilbon defended
NU, although his argument was a little strained it was nice to see him standing
up for his alma mater.
