[NU Sports] NU Baseball projected...

Well, you've got to get your young guys game experience and the midweek games
are the way to do that since you're supposed to schedule "easier" teams.
One problem is that the "easy" teams tend to get up for the Big 10 team, because
its bragging rights to beat one, and you can use a better pitcher and maybe not
screw up your rotation.
I work with a HS team that tends to draw the other team's Ace pitcher every
game. This team has been on top for so long, the other teams want to beat them,
and will use their top kids to do so.
Anyway, MSU is the "better" team of the two Big 10 schools, but Purdue is
looking for redemption, and knocking NU out of the race would be icing on their
cake...

I don't understand why Stevens uses mid week games as a form of try outs for
non-starters. Those losses don't help NU is rankings or help in recruiting
when some kid looks at the overall record. Losing can be habit forming just as
much as winning is. In the context of the Big Ten, neither MSU or Purdue are
pushovers.
