[NU Sports] All-Sports Rankings

I seem to recall reading just a few months ago that Minnesota had been atop
the SI all-sports rankings for so long that SI On Campus decided to "retire"
the Gophers from the list.  They made reference to it being akin to taking a
song off of TRL (that's MTV's "Total Request Live"--what made Carson Daly
into a celebrity--for all those out-of-touch-with-pop-culture list members
;)  ) after a song has been at number one for a certain number of weeks.  I
remember a thread about it on Gopherhole.com, where half the people
commented about how great it was, and the other half lamented about how it
seems like the only two sports in which the Gophers aren't regularly the top
10 are the two that matter the most to the most people--football and men's
basketball--and how they would trade the however many championships in
non-revenue sports in a heartbeat for one Rose Bowl or a Final Four
(preferably unforfeited).

Unless I am missing something there seems to be a edge for fair weather
states being that only Notre Shame(11th), Northwestern(17th), Oregon
State(17th), and Nebraska(21st) are from the north out of the top 25.  Even
Oregon State has fairly moderate weather.  Note:  I intentionally excluded
Georgetown, because it was carved out of a southern state and therefore is
southern.

Why the sudden renaissance in non-revenue sports?  Can it be after affects
of the football success highlighting our athletics reputation?  Could it be
the stars aligning with some good young coaches?
