Just wanted everyone on the List to know that last night I attended one of
the most special alumni events ever held in "The Big Apple". Our own List
member (and my friend) Willie Weinbaum was a Co-Producer of "A Toast To The
Past, A Toast To The Future", a "Broadway"-style musical theater review held at
the Hudson Theater with a cast of NU luminaries and future stars of stage,
screen and TV. President Bienen was there, as was Dean O'Keefe of the School of
Communications and Richard Dean (former 'Cat defensive back in the late
'60's and older brother of Randy Dean, former NU QB and NY Giant backup QB), who
is President of the Northwestern Alumni Association, which sponsored the
event. I think it may well have been the most well attended event I have ever
been to in my 30+ years as an alum in NY. NU has finally recognized that the
"critical mass" of alums in the NY-NJ-CT area has expanded exponentially in
the last 20 years, and is doing something about it--opening an Alumni Office in
Rockefeller Center. As a former President of Northwestern University
Entertainment Alliance (NUEA) East (a sponsor of the program last night), I
couldn't be more pleased. Now if we could only make the "Dance" just once in our
lifetime.....

Since Sanford (Sandy) Sacks, former NU football player from the Fifties and
the "Godfather" of NU alumni events in NY, was kidding me all night about my
active participation in the List (He even asked me when I had time to practice
law, since he said I send so many posts.:-)), I couldn't resist the
opportunity to send this report.
