Oh - no doubt. I don't dispute that - I'm just
pointing out that it's unfair to say that "NW State
gets in, why can't we" because college hoops has
automatic bids for these small leagues that would have
little or no chance in a major conference. And hey,
every now and then Cinderella makes a run and it's
part of the magic of March, so I love the autobids!
It's just worth noting that football/NCAA hoops is an
apples/oranges comparison in that respect. Even with
this new "extra" BCS bowl game for the mid-majors,
which will likely turn into an additional bids for BCS
leagues.

Albany did its best Princeton imitation tonight in
Philly. It will happen one day - it'll be interesting
to see who does it (and whether NU gets in before or
after this happens - let that pool begin:) ).
Well, after a 3-0 start, a 0-3 thud for the Big Ten
later today. Wisky just stunk up the joint, Iowa
choked big-time and MSU lost all sense of composure
down the stretch, firing wild threes at an opponent
that couldn't make FTs. Ugh. Not a good showing.
But then the NU season ticket renewal was in my e-mail
box and it reminded me that spring football is just
around the corner!
