[NU Sports] NU-Nevada game to conflict with Rosh Hashanah

I don't think the issue is that gambling is legal in certain states
(as noted, many states, including Illinois, have casinos - and most
states have a lottery and horseracing at the track and at off track
betting locations), but that in Nevada betting on sports is legal
(it's the only state where this is true). This upsets the NCAA
greatly (they have threatened papers that run the sports lines -
saying that that practice promotes betting). Of course, actually
playing in Nevada doesn't really affect anything since there is
obviously betting on every game across the country no matter the
location.
The issue with playing at Nevada (Reno) is that they are a very solid
team who is on the upswing (WAC championship last year), and NU has to
play a home-and-home series with them (instead of NU not having to go
there). It will be the toughest non-conference game of next season
and will be the first of 3 consecutive road games (at Penn State the
following week, and at Wisconsin the week after) that will be very
tough. This stretch will be a true test of next year's team and will
tell if they will have a shot at a bowl berth (or more) in 2006.
