My wife has come to the conclusion -- and I have chosen not to fight
this battle -- that our children are at an age where it is becoming too
difficult and too expensive to make the trip from Indianapolis to
Evanston five or six times every fall. We both love college football,
but the kids' Saturday activities, babysitters, gas, meals on the road,
and everything else associated with multiple weekends away from home in
a short period of time all add up to some pretty significant scheduling
and economic issues.

That said, we finally got to the 50-yard line in the '04 season and we
want to keep our options open for future years. So I plan to continue
buying my tickets, but I'm offering most of the season, including
parking pass, at face value to list members or other NU fans. Here are
the nitty-gritty details:

1) Seats are Section 108, Row 39, #18-19. These are the first two seats
south of the fifty on the East side of the stadium. If you lean
slightly to the right in the northern-most of these seats, you are
looking straight down the 50. These really are fantastic seats. Once
you see them, you'll understand why I don't want to give them up completely.

2) East Lot parking pass is included. Contact with a very lively
four-vehicle-wide tailgating group can be provided, too.

3) Seats will include seatbacks unless someone commits to the whole
season prior to orders being due who doesn't want them.

4) Cost will be season ticket face value (+ parking pass + seatback),
which is a discount from single-game face value, or at least it was last
year. Last year that was $30 for the ticket and $10 for the seatback
per ticket, and $10 per game for the parking.

5) The offer is for the five games excluding the Michigan State game on
10/21, which also happens to be Homecoming. (My wife is an MSU alum, so
we don't miss this one regardless of date or site.) This includes New
Hampshire on 9/9; Eastern Michigan on 9/16; Purdue on 10/14; Ohio State
on 11/11; and Illinois on 11/18.

6) Preference will be given to a single buyer willing to take all of the
offered games, but I'm willing to break them up if I have to.

7) The offer is open to list members or other NU fans referred to me by
list members. I will not knowingly sell to someone who plans to re-sell
them or otherwise make them available to opposing fans. I have nothing
against an NU fan bringing a friend who roots for the opponent, but I
would prefer that both tickets not end up in the hands of the other
guys. That said, once I give them up, they're yours to do with what you
will.

8) As far as Northwestern is concerned, they will remain my season
tickets. I will order them, pay for them, and earn the priority points
for them.

9) Right of first refusal for future seasons will be given to a buyer
who takes the entire season until such time as we decide to take the
tickets back for ourselves.

If anyone is interested, or if you know someone who is interested (see
#7 above), contact me off-list.
