[NU Sports] Stanford To Cut Down Size of Football Stadium

Interesting article in today's NY TIMES "Education" Section about how  
Stanford is spending $100 million to shrink their historic football stadium from  
85,000 capacity to 50,000, in order to hopefully boost season ticket sales and  
also to bring the spectators closer to the action (since the current field is  
separated from the stands by a running track):

This passage really caught my eye and made me wonder if NU students have a  
different view of football than our "cousins" on the West Coast:   
"The project has also stirred little controversy on campus, students and  
faculty members said, perhaps because not many seem to attend the home football  
games."
