It's been a sad day - the only somewhat theraputic
thing is reading through/watching a series of
well-done remembrances/tributes and remembering all
that Coach Walker brought to Evanston.

I keep remembering Walker's seemingly favorite word:
Finish. His teams always seemed to have a flair for
the most dramatic of finishes. The 54-51 Michigan
classic is just the start and it continues through to
his last game in Evanston against Iowa.

And he did an exceptional job of making sure his kids
finished school and that they were ready for life when
exiting Northwestern's program, one where he embraced
the high standards instead of bemoaning them.

And as many of the stories/reflections have pointed
out, he seemed intent on finishing his work on the
sidelines in Evanston - falling in love with the
school and wanting to stick around and build a winner
here instead of looking elsewhere after a good year or
two.

This is a devastating loss to a family, team, school
and community. I can only hope everyone will work
together to finish Walker's work and honor the legacy
of this coach who died far too young.
