Condolences go out to the Walker family and the entire NU community,
but especially the football program that has lost a leader and a
genuinely good guy. Such a premature death is always a big loss and
hurts everyone - even those who didn't like him as a coach. During
his tenure at NU he was an honest person and a hard worker who earned
the respect of the school, the conference, and the country with the
success of the program while retaining the academic and overall
integrity of Northwestern. During my time as a member of NUMB he went
out of his way to come over and speak with us and express his support
for the marching band and his thanks for our support. Overall he was
a stand-up guy who was going to be the face of NU football for some
time and he will be missed by all.
