Last night I went with my son to a brand-new (opened on 6/5) "Buffalo Wild
Wings Grill & Bar" in Port Chester, NY, a couple of miles from my home. The
place is a veritable "heaven" of TV screens tuned to sporting events. Of
course, when we arrive, there are more than a dozen screens tuned to the
broadcast of Yankees-Red Sox, as well as TV's showing Indians-A's, Cubs-Astros, Poker
(on ESPN), etc. But nary a TV is giving the 'Cats vs. 'Cats Softball game,
so I ask my waitress if they can tune one screen to it. To my happy
surprise, they do so, and we get a giant projection screen full of Purple and White
and 'Zona. To my even greater surprise, I couldn't take my eyes off the
screen, even with great Yankee-Bosox action in competition with it for my
attention. When we failed to score with the bases loaded and nobody out, I knew in
my heart that our dream season was not going to end happily. You just can't
miss that kind of opportunity against a great pitcher who was on her game.
Nonetheless, I want to salute our gals for a tremendous achievement. I became
a big 'Cat softball fan this past week and will continue to follow them in
years to come.

I plan on going back to the "Wings" restaurant during the next month for
World Cup action. It should be awesome and loud, as Port Chester is home to a
large and quite vocal Latin and Central American population. Of course, if
the Senate majority has its way, they'll all be arrested, thrown in jail and
deported. And then I'll be watching alone. Uh oh, there I go again with
political stuff. Sorry.....
