Since Randy Bates was Colby's LB assistant at Kent State, I'd expect an
improvement in the defense, but then I would expect that improvement if there
hadn't been a coaching change.
In any case, the LA Tech folks talked about the Colby-Bates link in their first
stories and Bates' options should Colby go somewhere else after this year would
include being DC OR going with Colby.
Speed will be the key to our defense this year, and I think we just might have
the quickness and experience up front to get it done.
