[NU Sports] Fitz on Mike and Mike

I hadn't seen anyone mention it but Coach Fitz was on Mike and Mike earlier
this week.  Their shows are supposedly archived and available to those who
are ESPN Insiders (although I am not).  Mike Greenberg (NU about 87?) was
very complimentary of NU as he always is and recalled with fondness the Rose
Bowl trip.  He said the same thing I have told people for years: if I had to
pick the favorite day of my life, that Rose Bowl game day would be close.
Greenberg also said there was no way a fan of a traditional power could
experience the overwhelming sense of joy and disbelief that an NU alum felt
that year.

 

The Coach was terrific, full of class, reverential towards Randy, honest
about the need to be prepared to start playing football when practice begins
on August 3rd, and he offered the following tag line: we will be returning
to the Rose Bowl.
