I live in Issaquah, WA which is a small city in the greater Seattle area. On July 4 the city has a parade consisting of children and their pets with decorated wagons, bikes, trikes etc. I marched along with my grandkids who are 3 and 6. As you go past the "reviewing stand" they use your registration to call out the names of the kids. I was wearing a grey T shirt with Northestern Wildcats and an N on the upper chest. The reviewer spotted the logo and made comments about the Wildcats. I figured he had to be an NU guy to recognize the logo at that distance. The parade ends at a large park in the center of town where they have organized activities for the kids. I met him at the park and got to talking about NU and how we felt about Randy's passing. It turns out the he is from the class of 92 and is on the city council. His name was Russell Joe, in case anyone knows him. Maybe I'll start going to the city council meetings as I live only 3 blocks from city hall.
The only downer as when I told him I graduated in 68. He said he was born in 69! Any day spent with the grandkids is still a great day, though. It's too bad that Randy never had the pleasure.
