[NU Sports] the next coach

Not sorry to say that I agree with you.
I think JB would surprise many with his offensive coaching ability, and has the
stature around Nicolete to pull the team together, assisted by McGee, Colby and
Fitz [and Washington and Cushing, and Ingals, and Johns and MacPherson].
Remember that while Brown was a DB at Minnesota, he started out as a WR and
played there for 2 years. In the past he's coached both WR's and DB's and was
the OC at Cal State Fullerton for 4 years before returning to the Vikings and
then NU in 1993.
The key here is recruiting - like it or not, this class could be troublesome
because there isn't a clear leader on top, however Brown has recruited well over
the years. His contributions are minimized because the NU Coaching Team led by
Walker did not keep score about who brought in whom. I'd have to go back and
check but several of our top players are the result of Brown's recruiting
efforts.
In any case, I wouldn't expect an announcement of anything until early next
week, if then.
However, I wouldn't count on Vanderlinden, or Barnett. Personally, I think the
next coach is already on staff, and that will be a good thing for 2006 and NU
the future.
