[NU Sports] Respect

With due respect to my friend, Marilyn Zilka, I completely understand your
feelings. On the other hand, you have been much closer to the people in the
NU football program than most of us, so Randy's loss is very personal to
you. As possibly the only member of this board (I hope) who has buried a
son at much too early an age, I can tell you from sad experience that you
must move on with life, the next day, the next week or month, but you have
to move on. When that loss is as personal as a son or a dear friend, it
takes a long while but much less so when it's someone you have admired but
never knew personally, which is the case for most of us. No one means any
disrespect to Randy Walker or his family. I'm sure he and they would like
nothing better than the Wildcats to win it for The Coach this season, which
means getting down to the business of choosing a new coach.

I never gave Ron Vanderlinden a thought, but wouldn't that be a great match
for NU? Perhaps we should start hoping. What would Penn State have to say
about that? I doubt that JoePa would object to the move because he's a good
human being, although RV would have to take the lateness of the date into
consideration.
