I know this is poor form to respond to my own message, but for the record,
Duke University is ranked 5 compared with our 11.

Stanford, who is a perennial contender for the award given to the best
Division I-A athletics program, is ranked 5 also.

Big-time sports excellence is something we can and should strive for as
part of the total package of being a top notch University. It goes
without saying that this excellence should come with no corresponding drop
in either student quality or exceptions made for those students who are
also athletes, but I've said it anyway. :)

Best,

Jonathan
