[NU Sports] Sutton's Status

Michael Hart and some Michigan fans might take issue with that bold
assertion, but I'd rather have Sutton too. :) Maroney does (did) have a
year left, but despite the fact that he waited until after the bowl game to
make his decision official, it's been commonly assumed even since 2004 that
he would leave after this past season. Incidentally, I was pleasantly
surprised to read in part of his announcement his vow to come back and
finish college whatever happens in the NFL, because he promised his mother
he would get his degree when he went to college and that's a promise he said
there's no way he would break. -Joe

Subject: [NU Sports] Sutton's Status

All,

I was looking at an ESPN story about USC's two running backs declaring an
early end to their education. Then I clicked on a link of all underclassmen
(so far) to declare for the draft.

Apparently Brian Calhoun (WISC) and Laurence Maroney (MINN)have both learned
enough at their respective schools as well. I didn't even know Maroney had
another year left. Anyhow, this puts Sutton clearly on top of the Big Ten
running back corps heading in to next year (and 2 years after that!!!)

Regards,
Jim
