[NU Sports] Who cares about the Rose Bowl? -- Cats win!

I love my DVR. Watched the Cats win tonight, then sped home to watch the game in its entirety. By skipping ads and other dead spots, caught up to live action by midway through the 4th quarter.

The Cats BB game was a good one. Vedran had 20 in the first half, and would easily have had more if he hadn't picked up a second foul with a couple minutes left to play. The Purdue team is bad, and was dealt another major blow with a nasty-looking injury to Nate Minnoy (also recruited by NU).

But the Cats played good defense, did a decent job on the boards, and made their shots. Doyle had a very good game indeed. VV was able to distribute the ball a little more in the second half. Cats were never in danger. It isn't like beating MSU or Illinois, but the Cats took care of business.

USC, meet Big Ten refs. Not to take anything away from Texas, who played great and was deserving. Would have been interesting to see what would have happened if the first Texas touchdown had been reviewed.

To be fair to the refs, a number of other calls, such as the fumble/incomplete pass on Texas' second to last drive were very tough, very close calls even from slowed multiple replay angles. Even tougher calls at game speed.
