... as the officiating crew. My sympathies to Pete
Carroll and Mack Brown.:)

With the lack of a Big Ten-Pac 10 matchup most the
last few years, I had forgotten how electric of an
atmosphere the Rose Bowl can be. I still get
goosebumps remembering how I couldn't even hear my own
horn as 71,000+ folks in purple sang "Go U
Northwestern" during pregame ... or when Darnell
scored in the 4th to make it 32-31. Good to see the
magic back in Pasadena, even if the Big Ten isn't
yet.:)

Couple other early game notes ...

* Wow - all of that Longhorn D and all but 2 of the
offense is from the state of Texas. No wonder that's
such an enticing job -- some amazing talent close to
home.

* Yes, anything can happen in college football games
whether it's the home field fans, the tall Notre Dame
Stadium grass, luck, etc. ... but from the first two
series, it's pretty apparent that when these two teams
come focused and ready to play, the only team that
we've seen this bowl season who could stay on the same
field as them is Ohio State, and the Bucks had their
chance with Texas visiting the Shoe in that megagame
back in September.

Hope it lives up to the other BCS games ...
interesting that the tri-state area at the Appalachain
foothills will have 3 of the 4 BCS winners this year
and, again, the Florida teams are absent from the top
10 (though Florida may sneak in).
