Good points all, but what was really missing on our defense, many  years, and 
especially this year, is a bona fide pass rush--which can cover up  other 
problems on defense, such as slow or undersized DB's, which we seem to  recruit 
on a regular basis.  We had NO defensive thrust on the line  virtually all 
year.  We lost to Penn State because of it, and it never  really abated.  Unless 
we get some new "Castillos" we will always be weak  on "D".  It's just a fact 
of life.
 
Also, after the First Quarter of the Sun Bowl, we not only lost in the  
trenches consistently on "D", we also got whupped on the "O" line as well,  
notwithstanding our gaudy statistics going in.  That, and the kicking game,  was 
where the game was decided, IMHO.
