But lets face it. NU is not the school of choice for most top HS defensive
players.

Roy,

Mind telling me why a defensive player who could get into NU would be any
less interested than an offensive player?

The guys we're looking for are the ones who care about education and value
the degree that NU is offering in return for playing football. You saying
that only guys with skills on offense can figure this out?

You also know that HS kids good enough to play in college are almost always
two-way players in HS. They only become one-way players when they get to
college, and even then are often switched from what they were recruited to
do based on an opportunity to play and team needs (e.g. Backus). So help me
make sense of this claim that that RW's consistently poor defenses are the
result of some inherent difficulty in recruiting good defenders to NU.

Given the fact that this appears to be a recent phenomena associated with
the current coach, what changed that made it more difficult for the current
coach than it was for the previous coach?

Seems like you could just as easily make the assertion that this coach
either can't recruit defensive talent, can't coach kids on how to be good
defenders, or has decided that offense is more important.

Jeff
