I also would not put down El Paso too harshly (after an afternoon in  Juarez, 
EP looks pretty good).  It will never be a great tourist  destination, but 
the point made a number of times about the warm hospitality of  the local folks 
cannot be understated. They really seemed appreciative that we  were there and 
went out of their way to show it.  Sun Bowl is also at best  an average 
facility, but it is a spectacular setting for a game. I only  wish the outcome had 
been better, but the curse of the Walker era --  pathetic kicking game and 
defense -- just continue to haunt  us.  We need help in those areas or we'll 
never go beyond the 7-5  plateau. Period.
