See, this is why I was reluctant to post that -- just
to clear it up, I am not NOT NOT calling for Carmody's
head and I maintain that he is a good fit for the
sidelines in Evanston. I was merely commenting how
some folks are so fixated on firing the football coach
that they've given Carmody -- who has a worse resume
in Evanston than Walker by any measure -- a free pass.

Well, not quite. They were NCAA contenders pre-Bennett
in the mid-90s with Michael Finely and Rashard
Griffith. But again, it helps to be a state university
with a big alumni base to pack that old barn called
the Fieldhouse pre Kohl Center (our attendance figures
at Welsh-Ryan are pretty poor - which is sad because
when that place is packed, it ROCKS!).
With so many kids leaving early, college basketball
has been turned upside down in recent years and
recruiting is a really tough game and risky. The
smaller names that make runs in March seem to have a
solid core of seniors -- something we could have had
this year if bad luck hadn't hit Thompson and Parker
hadn't been a idiot. But the lack of depth really
showed when the bad luck hit. Still, I think Carmody
deserves a little longer to build this program from
scratch.
