[NU Sports] No ifs and and, hopefully, no Butz

It was admittedly a long time ago, but I recall that he taught at least one
or two required classes for EE majors. So there wasn't any choice.

My recollection of his class was that he was one of those seriously bright,
seriously unbalanced, personally disconnected people that could only survive
in academia.

It is the ugly side of free speech, but you have to celebrate the fact that
as long as he abides by the rules of keeping his personal and professional
lives separate, NU has given him an opportunity to earn a living.

Jeff

This guy is, indeed, a flippin' clown. He apparently achieved tenure in
1974. He is a professor of Electrical Engineering, NOT of history.

Subsequent to receiving tenue, he published (self-published?) his book,
which denies the holocaust.

I don't believe he actually went to Iran but believe he was "interviewed" by
their state-run "newspaper."

It is my understanding that over the years NU has watched VERY carefully to
ensure that he never mentions his idiotic theories in class. I'd have to
believe he'd be booted out on his ass in a heartbeat if that happened.

Now, why anyone signs up for his class I don't know...
