The Fort Wayne Journal Gazette
Essex is catching on to his life on the line

“It wasn’t my idea. It was definitely coach (Randy) Walker’s decision,” Essex said. “He said it was the best thing for my future, and it turns out he was right. I owe him all the thanks in the world, even though I didn’t like it when he told me (I was being moved). When he told me I wouldn’t be catching balls, I was like, ‘Man.’”

USA Today
Media day hardly a three-ring circus

Signing Day
The media presence at the press conference was sparse. In past years there were 3-5 TV cameras with network logos. This year neither camera had a logo. Most of the reporters present appeared to be under 25, which suggests Daily, WNUR, etc. or recently out-of-school "cub" reporters. I did not see any "grizzled" veterans.

Defending his players is very admirable, but he walks a fine line in regards to mocking the "boosters", which in are case are almost guaranted to be alumns. His comments in regards to the Iowa victory and that Howells made 9/10 within 40 yards were sufficient defense. He could have followed it up with words that are less derogatory towards the "boosters".

As I said in an earlier post neither of us clapped for Demos. We both feel our special teams problems go way beyond just a kicker.

We are going to the fast break club reception before the MSU game. Would it be tacky to ask Murphy a question regarding Dunbar?
