[NU Sports] Recruiting Rankings

Jim Leonard's comments are typical of the NU mindset that was forged 
during the horrendous losing streak that was  experienced when NU 
students to show how smart they thought that they were reduced to 
yelling at opposing players "you'll be working for us".  Being a top 
athlete doesn't make a person a dope, but that is the message that the 
NU mindset sends.  An imaginative coach, which we don't have, combined 
with a super smart AD like Murphy should be able to draw top athletes 
who can make it academically at NU.  Maybe somone should ask Murphy why 
he chose Colgate over NU.  come to think of it, a great market research 
project would be to ask top athletes with top SATs why they went 
somewhere other than NU.  I can give you a sammpling of one.  There were 
two brothers, top in their classes in Newark, Delaware who chose 
Stanford nad Miami ovr NU.  Why?, no one from NU could even get them 
inteersted.  One kid now plays for the 49ers and the othr kid will 
probablly be a top draft choice.

The fact that Stanford, Duke and Vanderbilt were ranked well above NU 
says a lot .
