Pomeroy plays out our entire schedule(excluding Big Ten tourney) and
predicts us at 16-14 with a 5-11 conference record.
Michigan(home), Minnesota(both), and Penn State(home). I know that is
only 4 wins, but he has a note:
"**Projected record is based on chances of winning, and therefore may
not conform to the cumulative game-by-game predictions. This accounts
for the unexpected results that will inevitably happen during the
season."
His scouting report is quite interesting also:
-- 6th in Steal percentage
-- 2nd in Assist to Field Goal made
-- 4th in Turnover percentage(offense)
-- 12th in Turnover percentage(defense)
Doyle is 23rd in Assist rate
Did anyone see the Daily Herald article about Vince "The Hammer" Scott?

Some true quotes:
Im a mental case, Scott said. So if I make a couple shots, then my
game is going to go. And if I miss a few and then I make a bad pass,
then it kind of goes to heck.
and some absurdities about Greg All-World Oden vs. Vince The
Hammer Scott. I don't know whether Doyle is serious or not, but I
don't think it will matter as at most it only counts as 2 losses even
if we lose by 50.

The basketbal team won again last night (vs Loyola of Maryland).
This puts them at 9-3, with 18 games to go. If I just use the Sagarin
numbers, they go 4-8 in 12 of those games (the ones with margins
greater than 5 points). That would make 13-11, with 6 key games:
at Penn State
host Michigan
at Minnesota
host Ohio State
host Illinois
at Iowa
The Purdue and Indiana home games are just a tad over a 5-point
differential, so I marked them as losses also, although they could be
added to this list, based on the frequently-observed Welsh-Ryan factor.
9-3 is great, and I would like to think that they can win 17 or 18
games, or am I crazy projecting ahead for a team that struggled with
Wheaton College ?
