[NU Sports] Playoff time!

The issue isn't that human's are mistake-prone - they have bias and
conflicts of interest which affect their votes.

This year every coach in the BT (except for tressel) voted for Michigan to
be #2 because of the money and prestige. Every coach in the SEC voted for
Florida for the same reasons.

Everybody else had to pick what was best for their institution as well as
who was the best team. Many decided that they would prefer the national
championship to be from teams from different conferences.

Because the BT doesn't have a championship game and an asymmetrical
schedule, we have the chance EVERY year to produce two undefeated teams.
What would happen if Wisconsin had gone undefeated this year? Would they
have jumped over Florida? I suspect you would have had the same outcome
except the argument would have been that Wisconsin didn't play as strong a
schedule as Florida AND that Florida earned it because of being the SEC
champ.

IMHO, it's that sort of stuff the BCS was supposed to fix and what will
drive demand for a "mini" playoff.

Jeff

IMHO all the tinkering with the traditional system is bad, the BCS was a
mistake, computers have no soul, leave it to humans as mistake prone as we
are.
No rematches, no playoffs.
