Does everyone realize they're already 2/3 of the way there?
None of the four original BCS bowl games are hosting the National
Championship game this year, though the Fiesta bowl SITE is. Add a few
more days to the schedule between the 'major' bowls and the BCS Championship
game and, voila!, you've got a four-team playoff.
Sultan, the camel has more than his nose in your tent!
Another split national championship (which is not outside of the realm
of possibility) might get the right people talking about it.
Anybody want to bet me that they get the rest of the pieces in place by
January 2009?
Now, what they REALLY need to do right away is drop that stupid rule that
is keeping one of the 11-1 teams (Wisconsin) out of the BCS. One of my
favorite years was when the Big 8 finished 1-2-3 in the final polls. The
SEC has had some years where they could have come close to that, now
it's the Big 10's turn. Seems fair to me.
Too bad Rutgers couldn't hold on to the win (in 3OTs), but at least Wake
Forest earned its 2nd ACC championship. (The first came in 1970, the year
Brian Piccolo died.)
And USC lost!!!
