Carmody Announces Roster Additions for 2006-07
Ivan Tolic returns to the Wildcats after his medical non-counter was reversed by
the Big Ten

EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern head coach Bill Carmody today announced the
addition of three student-athletes to his 2006-07 roster.

Ivan Tolic (Split, Croatia/Vladimir Nazor), whom the Big Ten deemed a medical
non-counter last summer after tendonitis in both knees prevented him from being
able to perform, had the decision reversed last week by the Sports Medicine
Committee of the Big Ten. Also joining the Wildcats this season is Ivan
Peljusic, a 6-8, 195-pound forward from Zadar, Croatia, and Matt Steger, a 6-4,
195-pound guard/forward from Northfield, Ill. (Loyola Academy). Both have
accepted letters of admission and will be eligible to compete this season.

As a medical non-counter last year, Tolic was allowed to remain on scholarship
without it counting towards the team limit. After sitting out a year, the Sports
Medicine Committee of the Big Ten has confirmed that the tendonitis in both
knees have sub-sided, allowing Tolic participate once again at the collegiate
level.

Peljusic was a member of his club team KK Borik-Puntamika that finished seventh
at this year's Croatian Championships. A high school all-region team selection,
Peljusic averaged 15.7 points, 6.8 rebounds and two assists his senior year.

Steger averaged 10 points, four assists and four rebounds last season for Loyola
Academy, helping his team to a 27-4 record and a Chicago Catholic League
championship.
