[NU Sports] Question re Fitz's contract

If you're on good terms with your Wolverine acquaintance, ask him who PF is holding a place for ?  If there's not a generally known heir apparent, it's hard to label somebody as a 'placeholder'.
 
In fact, I am trying to recall a case of a clearly interim placeholder coach or manager (in any sport), and drawing a blank...anybody else know of one ?  I do recall some political 'placeholders' - didn't one of George Wallace's wives hold his place when he was prohibited from running for Governor due to term limits ?
 
To refer to PF as an interim coach (without the 'interim') or placeholder would seem to be
 
a) One of those old recruiting games - discredit a coach or put him on the hot seat - maybe a prospect will head elsewhere - probably a rumor bubbled up on some chat board somewhere.
 
b) Typical Ann Arbor bluster - from many trips over there for games, many Michigan fans seem to favor the notion that the louder or more confidently a pronouncement is made (like 'Michigan is the best program in the Big Ten'), the more accurate it must be.

Like the others, I know the "long term" phrase was mentioned in the press 
conference, and I've seen nothing whatsoever as to the number of years or amount 
of compensation.

At the risk of being unkind to your Wolverine acquaintance, I would suggest that 
he or she knows little about Mark Murphy or the degree of esteem in which Fitz 
is held in Evanston.  If it were mere window dressing Murphy would have the same 
lack of awareness of the NU community's esteem for Fitz as the Wolverine 
displays.
