Just a thought as we all reflect on the advisability, or lack thereof, of Mr. Walker wearing purple for even more years.
Walker has gone 14-10 in the Big Ten the past three years; has taken the Cats to bowl games; and, for the most part, has graduated his players. If you were Mark Murphy and Henry Bienen, wouldn't that look good to you?
Since this is a public forum and since I work for the sports department of a major newspaper, I'm not saying whether I personally think retaining Walker is a good idea or not. I'm simply saying that an objective analysis would lead most reasonable observers to conclude he had met his performance criteria, and that it was clear -- based on comments Murphy had made over the past few months in the press -- Walker was going to be in Evanston for a long time to come.
That said, I suggest it's important that those with a dissenting point of view, like Mr. DeGroat, ought to be welcomed on our forum. Dissent and disagreement is healthy, and makes life on these boards way more interesting, especially in the off season.
Warm purple regards to all from sunny SoCal - Alan
