It was a beautiful day Saturday and it was nice to see the squad actually
get to run through an entire spring game. The defense contained the offense
throughout the first 20 plays or so but eventually the offense adjusted to
garner some long gains. All three quarterbacks struggled at times with
interceptions and missed passes but the most impressive performance seemed
to come from red shirt freshman Andrew Brewer. He is 6-3 215 with great
hands (he also can also play wide receiver) and broke a number of tackles
when called upon to run. I didn't see Sutton play so I guess he was held
out. I also didn't notice any two back sets from Walker although I tended
to study the defense more.
Wildcat Alley took place on Touchdown Terrace and despite free beer and a
beautiful day it was pretty sparsely attended. The west side stands were
about 25% full for the game. All of the kids were allowed on the field to
stretch with the Cats before the game. David Ngene took a picture with my
one year-old daughter which made for a pretty funny picture (6-3 260 vs.
2-1 39) If anyone was at the game I'd like to hear their thoughts.
Especially since I spent a great deal of time chasing the aforementioned one
year-old around the south end zone. (Where I also happened to notice some
of the bricks that have been bought by contributors to this list: Jim Bendat
and John DeGroat were two I recall. They look great!)
