[NU Sports] purple bashing

Browsing ESPN, I was read the article about the controversy over the
Buckeyes' new uniforms (
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=2406332 ).  I the decided
to check out the Uni Watch Archives, and was shocked to find the
following in the FAQ (
http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/news/story?id=2338215 ):

Why do you hate purple so much?

I actually think purple in nature is quite nice -- eggplants, violets,
plums, etc. But purple in manmade design applications has always
struck me as really tacky. Like, seriously, have you ever seen a
purple car? A total nightmare. Same goes for purple clothing,
especially uniforms.
