I believe this was 1996. We went to Iowa and beat them like red-headed
stepchildren.
The band played Pictures at an Exhibition, and snow fell during the "Great
Gates of Kiev."
Jim Leonard wrote the lyrics, still sung by NUMB today, for the "Battle
Hymn Hawkeye."
It was the coldest game I have ever been to. Those warmers aren't quite
as warm as they needed to be for that game.
After the game, some little kid was watching the band pass by, and said:
"My grandma runs better than Darnell Autry!", to which somebody (Jim
Leonard again?) replied "Your grandma shoulda been out there on the
field!"
Ah, fond, fond memories of that game.
Beating Hayden "Friday Night Fish" Fry and his Iowa Hogeyes at Kinnick,
under the lights, in deathly cold.
Go 'Cats,
Jonathan
